Alvin ISD Career Extravaganza

It is the time of the year where we began to plan our 2019 Alvin ISD Career Extravaganza. This year’s event will take place on January 26, 2019 at the JB Hensler College and Career Academy. This is the second year that our district has opened the doors to our new career center and we want to ensure our students and parents see how important it is for their children to begin having conversations about their futures now. With the opening of these career schools public education is giving families a quick start model so that students who graduate after successful completion will have more earning power straight out of high school as well as the opportunity to work and earn more than minimal wage while attending college.
As a Career Representative, you will stand alongside the respective teachers and student representatives for the Career Cluster your career is aligned with. As students and parents are walking around the various booths you will be sharing with them training and educational requirements, career growth opportunities, salary potential, job market in the surrounding areas, and the most rewarding aspect of your job.
We encourage you to bring visual aids or hands on activities to spark the interest of the participants. We also encourage the use of pamphlets/ handouts, marketing items – if applicable – or any other information you would like to share about your profession or company that you will be representing.
We have also incorporated Career on Wheels that is for our K-6 students so if anyone has a company truck or vehicle that is utilized in your line of work we would welcome your participation in this event.
If you’re unable to participate at this time but would like to donate coupons, gift cards, or funds for our participant raffles please feel free to contact our office if you have any questions or need us to pick up any items from you all. You can also mail in any correspondence as well to the address listed on our Career Representative Letter.
As you can see this is our opportunity to bring students and parents into a setting to begin the conversations about their students futures.
